Dear Professor Von Uhl,
When thinking about the future, chemical engineering comes to the mind. There are many avenues which can be taken in order to effect change, yet chemical engineering is one major that falls under the radar. This major allows many opportunities to do good for the future. For example, pharmaceuticals are always in need of able-bodied researchers to develop medicine to help deal with illness. Cures or treatments are a necessity for prolonged life and chemical engineering is a direction which allows said life to proceed with a better chance of survival.
Ever since I was a little boy, chemistry has fascinated me. What better fit could there be for a person who is curious about the causal factors for any natural event seen in daily life? I believe that chemical engineering will bring answers, although I am aware of the fact that there can also be more questions that arise. Regardless, I wish to tackle them with perseverance and determination.
My short term goals are to just finish the semester with a better comprehension of the guidelines for writing as an engineer i.e how to do lab reports or how to create our own project ideas. I believe that short term goals must be taken one step at a time, and shouldn’t overlap with each other unless it is feasible that they can be completed. Chemical Engineering necessitates that there is a structure to the way science is done and evaluated, so hopefully I can take part in finding out some of that structure this semester.
My long term goals are to complete chemical engineering with a masters degree and use it for the greater good. I want to find a job in research and to help people who might have lost hope in living a normal life. Scientific data is always just waiting to be found and with my qualifications, I aim to help those in need. It will not be an easy journey, yet will still be necessary to posit change for a good life.
Sincerely,
Kevin Pechersky
